Arsenal icon, Thierry Henry has expressed concerns that the club may be experiencing burnout following two unsuccessful Premier League title challenges against Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola’s side secured the league title for the sixth time in seven seasons with a 3-1 victory over West Ham at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday evening.
This defeat added to Arsenal’s woes, as they once again fell short in the title race despite leading the table for 248 days last season—a record for a team that failed to clinch the top spot in English top-flight history.
While Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta remains confident that Premier League success will eventually come to the Emirates, Henry is skeptical about the Gunners’ resilience.
“Rodri missed some games, Kevin De Bruyne missed some games, Phil Foden wasn’t the answer for a long time but this year he answered every single call,” Henry told Premier League Productions.
“They found a way. What they did is just stupid. It is not like they wait two years and do it a bit after… They do it all the time.
“One thing that worries me is that every time a team tries to stay with them and keep the pace, they burn their wings.
“Every time they implode. Look at Liverpool. They could not deal with it. I hope Arsenal can stay in the rhythm because it is not easy.”
