1. Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have dismantled two major drug cartels behind six different consignments of cocaine in a series of intelligence-led operations across Lagos. The drugs were concealed in walls of stainless cups, body cream and hair gel containers, leading to the arrest of five suspects and ultimately the arrowhead of the syndicate, Alhaji Hammed Taofeek Ode.
2. Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has said it is his turn to become Oyo State Governor in 2027. A viral video showed Adelabu at a stakeholders’ engagement with APC leaders, declaring his intention to join the 2027 governorship race.
3. Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have shot two persons to death in Bwari town, the headquarters of the Bwari Area Council of the FCT. It was learned that the victims, who were killed weekend were returning from Gwagwalada Area Council where they had attended a wedding ceremony.
4. The African Democratic Congress, ADC on Sunday criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what it described as his continued insensitivity to Nigeria’s worsening security crisis, accusing him of prioritising political appearances over his sacred duty of protecting the lives of Nigerians.
5. The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, weekend, held a meeting with members of the Rivers State Elders Council in Port Harcourt. The meeting, which comes amid recent political developments in the state, was also attended by the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, and Chairman of the Rivers State Elders Council, Chief Ferdinand Alabraba.
6. Former Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole, has advised former President Goodluck Jonathan against yielding to pressure to contest the 2027 presidential election, warning that doing so would damage his legacy. Speaking on Channels Television’s Sunday Politics, Oshiomhole said that only those who do not wish Jonathan well would encourage him to return to the political arena, adding that the ruling party would easily defeat him if he chose to run.
7. The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has destroyed 24,897kg of skunk in Edo and Osun forests, respectively. A statement by the NDLEA Director, Media and Advocacy, Mr Femi Babafemi, on Sunday in Abuja, said that not less than 223.5kg processed cannabis and seeds were recovered from four farms in Edo.
8. The Police command in Lagos State has arrested five suspected cultists following a violent clash between rival groups in Onireke and Isashi, Badagry. Command spokesperson, SP Abimbola Adebisi, confirmed the arrests in a statement on Sunday in Lagos.
9. The Nigerian Army has dismissed as false and misleading an online report claiming that bandits overran troops and stole arms and ammunition in the Kwara State. The report, published on Sunday by an online platform, alleged that bandits ambushed and overpowered soldiers, seizing six General Purpose Machine Guns (GPMGs) and 30,000 rounds of ammunition in the Obanla area.
10. Imisioluwa Ayanwale, popularly known as Imisi, has emerged as the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 10/10. The 23-year-old actress and fashion designer won the coveted N80 million cash prize, an SUV, and other rewards after a fierce competition with nine other finalists.
