Former Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki has said that he was proud of Nigeria’s Flying Eagles despite their 1-0 quarter-final defeat to South Korea at the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup on Sunday.
Saraki also said that the future of Nigerian football is bright and the journey for the Flying Eagles doesn’t end at the U-20 World Cup.
The Flying Eagles failed to score in over 120 minutes of the World Cup tie in Argentina.
However, South Korea grabbed the winner in the 95th minute through C. Seok-Hyun, after there were no goals in regulation time.
The result in favour of the Koreans means Nigeria is now eliminated from the tournament.
Reacting, Saraki, in a tweet via his Twitter handle after the match, wrote:
“Despite the defeat, we are proud of our Flying Eagles for their impressive journey at the FIFA U20 World Cup.
“The future of Nigerian football is bright, and the journey doesn’t end here. Keep soaring high, boys!”
